Although home cooked meals may sound delightfully charming and quaint, the opportunity to dine on German dishes cooked by an expert hand at home is not something we all get the chance to have during the entire length of our stay in Berlin, Germany. But don't think that the dishes served in every Berlin restaurant are all inferior in quality compared to home cooked ones because you might be pleasantly surprised when you dine out in Berlin.


At times, dining in Berlin can trick you into thinking that you are dining in some other city in the world because of the sheer number of international restaurants that you can find in this German capital city. From Mediterranean, Japanese, American, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, French and Swedish, all these world cuisines can be had right here in Berlin. Nola's is a famous Berlin restaurant that serves American dishes, Restaurant Riehmers is an Austrian restaurant, Ganymed Brasserie is French, Aapka is Indian, and Restaurant Maritim is an international restaurant and all of them are located in one city.


But of course, since you are in Germany, then do what the Germans do and dine on German cuisine. Berlin of course is home to dozens and dozens of German restaurants, some serving purely German dishes while others feature a fusion of German cuisine with other international cuisines. Berlin's German restaurants may also differ in types, some being fine dining restaurants, others casual dining places, and other still offering fast food choices. The most famous German meal which represents the simplicity and great taste of German cuisine is the fried meatball dish called a Boulette which is usually paired with a mug of Berliner Weisse which is beer mixed with some kind of juice.


And like in most European cities, you would find the streets and alleys of Berlin lined with numerous cafés. And these cafés are nothing like the popular Starbucks cafés in the United States. You can find a lot of in Berlin that have sidewalk seating for customers to have the chance to enjoy the bustling scenes of the outdoors. Other Berlin cafés on the other hand resemble the old time bistros and art cafés that proliferated decades ago all over Europe. Some Berlin cafés also have a touch of modernity to them as they offer Internet access and other services that internet cafés usually offer.
